Context

For many hotels, energy is the second biggest cost after labour. And, in a non-stop 24/7 environment - where customer experience is everything - the potential for energy waste is high. Recent research shows there is a genuine consumer-led demand for hotels and locations that embrace sustainability. The good news is, our British designed and manufactured air conditioning and lighting control technologies are helping to meet this need - without compromising guest comfort.

Challenge

According to data collected in 2017 by the European Commission, HVAC typically represents 23% of total energy consumption in a hotel environment. Added to that, 19% of electricity costs is associated with guest rooms. Within these consumption figures, there is inevitably an element of energy wastage. The key to efficiency is to have control over energy use in unoccupied rooms and zones.
