Here at Climateq, we’re shining the spotlight on 7 sustainable UK brands with a strong environmental ethos who are passionate about their environmental impact. Take a look below...
The Scottish brewery and pub chain BrewDog are leading the way in the industry in terms of sustainability. Not only do they now operate as carbon neutral, they are also extremely vocal and passionate about their sustainable work - and rightly so! You can download their sustainability report here, which includes information on their own forest where they plan to plant 1 million trees by 2022 - wow!
British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood has always been at the forefront of sustainability within the industry with her mantra of ‘Buy less, choose well, make it last.’ The global fashion brand sources “raw materials with minimal social and environmental impact” for each collection and ensures that sustainable fibres and fabrics are used in their work. The Climate Revolution project is also the designer’s personal account on her fight against climate change - go, Vivienne!
Another sustainable UK fashion brand is Boden who is committed to creating clothes that last. Not only are their factories across the world ethically robust and safe working environments, Boden also makes sure that they use the highest quality threads, buttons and fabrics so that their clothes last a lifetime. Fun fact: some of Boden’s coats have room for four names inside as they’re so confident they’ll survive multiple owners!
‘Reduce your plastic, reduce the problem!’ is EcoVibe’s mission statement, and they're definitely on their way to fulfilling it with their incredible range of plastic-free items! From bin liners to body lotion, makeup to mouthwash, EcoVibes have so many plastic-free alternatives. They even protect 40 square metres of the rainforest with every £1 purchased - we’re definitely going to be placing an order on their website!
Online grocery giant Ocado is big on sustainability and are always looking for new ways to ensure that none of their food goes to waste. They make sure that all of their inedible food is sent to anaerobic digestion, and edible food is redistributed. Not only have Ocado seen a 37% decrease in their CO2 intensity-based figure, they even state that they need to assess their centralised waste impact such as cardboard and broken hardware - we really respect this honesty and transparency.
Chilly’s have one simple mission: to accelerate the adoption and everyday use of reusable products. Their range of reusable water bottles keeps your cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot, reducing the need to buy single-use drinks. Chilly’s have collaborated with designer Emma Bridgewater and fitness coach Joe Wicks and have also branched out to coffee cups and food containers. We’ll take one in every colour, please!
Vegan food company allplants deliver delicious chef-made meals straight to your front door! Eating a plant-based diet is better for our planet and allplants believe that this should be easy and accessible, as well as tasty! Not only this, allplants are extremely transparent when it comes to their sustainability efforts and don’t shy away from talking about their waste and food origins. Yum!
